A biritual burial ground from the Roman period is located to the south of the village of Velatice, on a mild eastern slope above the Velatice Brook ("Zadní půllány" site). I. L. Červinka has discovered first cremation graves here as early as in 1924. Further excavations were carried out by A. Dvořáček (cremation graves from the late Roman period) and T. Ondráček.
In 1937 J. Poulík has discovered a skeleton grave here. The N-S oriented skeleton in the 250 cm depth was lying stretched on its back. A bone pin in a wooden pin case and a bronze lancet-like knife with an all-metal handle with a ring was discovered near the left hand. The grave is capable of dating to the period from the latter half of the 1st to the beginning of the 2nd century. 18 cremation graves explored in 1943 by the Department of Prehistory and Protohistory of the Brno University belong in the same period. The richest of these was grave No. 6. Apart from fragments of a clay urn it has also contained fragments of a bronze-sheet bucket, a glass casting, probably from a vessel, one silver and two bronze brooches, a ring, various fittings of belts including parts of Noricum-Pannonian set, an iron knife, a razor, and a pair of scissors. Another five cremation graves were explored in 1956 by I. Peškař. By the survey of the site it was found out that a great part of the burial ground has been destroyed by subsoil ploughing. According to I. Peškař there are about 70 graves from this site unpublished in a summary manner.

The finds from grave wholes and disturbed graves from the close of the late and the beginning of the early Roman period include e.g. clay vessels, Roman bronze sets marked by VGIM and RIMMA F stamps, a bronze handle of an Östland type sheet-iron bucket, and castings of glass vessels.
